Rod Murfitt - Exploration DirectorWhen it comes to geology Rod knows what he's talking about. Rod Murfitt is a geologist with more than 31 years mineral exploration and mining experience in the South Pacific and Southeast Asia. Rod holds a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from University of Auckland, New Zealand and is a long standing member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He has held senior management roles with a number of exploration, mining and consulting companies in New Zealand and Australia. Rod was initially responsible for leading the exploration teams that brought our Bong Mieu and Phuoc Son properties in Vietnam from discovery through exploration and up to production. He has been leading teams on major exploration projects, including the Bau Gold Project in Sarawak,East Malaysia, now similarly reaching pre mining stage.
John Glen - CFOJohn's our CFO. Naturally he's spectacular with a spreadsheet, but his 30 years in accounting, finance and corporate advisory roles are what set him apart. He has advised on project and development finance across many commodities including gold, base metals, bulk materials, diamonds and specialty metals for projects in varied jurisdictions from Australasia and Asia to the Americas and Africa. He hails from Sydney, Australia and can often be found taking long distance runs around the city's bays and beaches.
Graeme Fulton - General Manager Bau ProjectGraeme has more than 20 years experience in mining and information systems. He has worked for French-Kier on their Benbain Opencast coal mine (UK); Anglo American Corporation at Vaal Reefs Gold Mine, Premier Diamond Mine and Springbok Colliery in South Africa; and as Senior Mining Engineer for Avgold on the development of a new deep-level gold mine target. He has extensive experience in mining information systems, having worked at Andersen Consulting, Intertech Systems and Datamine on information systems for mining, petroleum and manufacturing companies as well as mining software development, GIS and mapping. Additionally... well he's done too much to fit on here. Rest assured he knows his stuff.
Steve Wilson - Corporate Communications DirectorA former political operative and elected representative in Australia, Steve has spent the last 20 years in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and now New Zealand, developing and delivering strategic public relations activities for clients around the globe. His broad skillset allows him to expertly manage our public, investor, government and community relations whilst also overseeing ICT. Outside of Besra he is a dedicated volunteer and rescue vessel crew with Coastguard Auckland. You'll also usually find him with a camera in his hand.
Erik Devuyst - Metallurgy DirectorErik holds a degree in mining engineering from Ecole Polytechnique of Brussels and a Masters and PhD in hydrometallurgy from the University of British Columbia. He has 36 years experience in the extractive metallurgy of nickel, copper, cobalt and gold. Co-inventor of the Inco SO2-Air cyanide detox process, he headed the Inco Tech group, a wholly owned business unit of Inco Limited, and licensed the technology at over 80 gold mines worldwide. He joined Besra in 2008 and has been instrumental in the increased gold production at the Bong Mieu gold mine and the process engineering and commissioning of the Phuoc Son gold mine. At present he is heading the metallurgical group for the laboratory testing, flowsheet development and process selection for the Bau gold ores processing in Malaysia.
